Calgary among top 5 most livable cities in the world

CALGARY – Calgary is among the five most livable cities in the world, according to a weekly news magazine.

The Economist released its annual Global Livability Ranking on Tuesday, as determined by its Intelligence Unit.

The survey gives a rating between 0 and 100 to 140 cities worldwide, where 100 is the most livable and 1 is the least.

The rating is determined by factors such as stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

In 2015, Melbourne nabbed the title of the most livable city in the world, while Calgary tied for fifth place with another Australian city, Adelaide.

  1. Melbourne (97.5)
  2. Vienna (97.4)
  3. Vancouver (97.3)
  4. Toronto (97.2)
  5. Adelaide (96.6) / Calgary (96.6) (tied)

5 least livable cities

  1. Damascus (29.3)
  2. Dhaka (38.7)
  3. Port Moresby (38.9)
  4. Lagos (39.7)
  5. Tripoli (40)

Montreal placed 14th on the list.
